I just love early spring as everything comes back to life outside. My rhubarb that just barely broke the ground two weeks ago is now ready to be harvested. I feel a rhubarb crisp in my future! The biggest news, however, is that our neighborhood egret has returned!! He’s still fairly evasive and I haven’t gotten the best photos. Every time I get close enough, he high tails it. In the gallery below you’ll see one photo of him in flight. He’s far away, but I think it’s still cool. First are some early blooms from around my yard. Click anywhere in the gallery to see larger photos.

Marianne at East of Málaga hosts this monthly challenge(click the link for more of this month’s entries) and I’m doing it this month! I have so many reflection-type photos and most, if not all, of these have been posted before but it’s fun to put together a collection of photos for a theme. I hope you’ll enjoy these. Click on any photo to see it larger and to scroll through all of the photos.

The rest of the challenge is to include links to two blogs that I’ve commented on in the last month. My first is a more recent find, a food blog that I think you’ll enjoy. Things My Belly Likes is full of great recipes with a dash of humor too.
My second featured blog has given me much inspiration in the last few weeks. Please visit Mirth and Motivation, I promise you’ll be inspired!
UPDATE: I originally posted this a year ago June. It’s now July 2013. It was one of the posts that contained broken links so I’ve revived this post with photos of our egret of last year. I thought of it because we have not seen its return this year. I’m glad I got the photos I did.
Such a beautiful bird and there’s one in our pond across the street. It’s there frequently when hubby and I take our lunchtime walk around the pond. I almost always bring my camera. I hope to get a great close-up but for now, here are some pics of our neighborhood egret.
